The album that spawned "Murder On The Dancefloor", Sophie Ellis-Bextor's debut album Read My Lips celebrates it's 25th Anniversary in 2026. Achieving the No.2 spot in the UK chart in June 2002, the album is now certified double platinum in the UK, selling over a million copies worldwide since release. It also peaked at No.3 in the US Billboard chart and within the top 10 for Australia, New Zealand, Germany, Netherlands and Norway. Hit singles include "Take Me Home", "Murder On The Dancefloor" (both of which peaked at No.2 in the UK singles chart), "Get Over You/Move This Mountain" and "Music Gets the Best of Me". The four singles from Read My Lips are the highest streamed songs from Sophie's catalogue, the highest being "Murder On The Dancefloor", currently exceeding 1.4 billion streams. 

"Murder On The Dancefloor" reached No.2 again in the UK official charts in January 2024, 22 years since it released, and was recognized officially as the Biggest British Female Single of 2024 by the OCC. The resurgence of the hit happily coincided with Sophie's return to disco pop in the creation of 8th album Perimenopop via Decca Records which peaked at No.5 in the UK chart. Sophie also hosted the iconic New Year's Eve countdown show on BBC One to end 2024, and has just delivered her biggest international tour ever in 2025 performing across Europe, the US, Central America and Australia. 

The 25th Anniversary Edition will feature the standard album tracklist plus additional rare / new bonus tracks, the majority of which are brand new to vinyl. This includes the Live In New York version of "Murder On The Dancefloor", rare tracks "Dear Jimmy", "Want You More" and cover of Blondie's "One Way Or Another", plus brand new unreleased track "Come Over All Summer". Also featuring exclusive voice recordings from Sophie herself featured throughout the album from an interview during the original album promo period, which discuss her inspiration and experiences around how Read My Lips came together.
