Coltrane Plays the Blues' is a concept album released by Atlantic Records and cobbled together from unreleased compositions captured during Coltrane's 'My Favorite Things' recording sessions. Featuring his signature soprano sax and delving deeply into his blues sensibilities, this new mono version breakout LP will follow the forthcoming Rhino High-Fidelity box set entitled 'John Coltrane: 1960-1964' where all lacquers are AAA cut directly from the mono tapes by Kevin Gray and pressed on 180-gram vinyl by Optimal, with meticulous detailing on the album packaging that includes glossy covers and "tip-on" jackets.
