Shintaro Sakamoto is a Japanese composer, producer, writer and singer based in Tokyo. He began his career in 1989 as a member of the acclaimed psych/rock band Yura Yura Teikoku, where he played guitar and sang over the course 21 years releasing 10 LPs. His highly anticipated new album Yoo-hoo is set to be released on January 23, 2026 via Zelone Records. Sakamoto previewed the album this autumn with his third U.S. tour along with performances in Mexico City.

Yoo-hoo, Sakamoto’s first new album since 2022, reflects his recent live experiences abroad while showcasing a diverse range of sounds, including blues, mood kayō, 1960s soul, surf instrumentals, and funk.
